The year is almost over and we have made a lot of progress. So far President Obama has passed the hate crime legislation into law. President Obama has also signed a bill into law extending medical care for low income individuals with AIDS or HIV in addition he is reversing travel prohibition for those entering the country for immigration or travel.

Thank you President Barack Obama. Deep in my soul I'm going to LET IT RING!! I dedicate this song to all specially to our incredible President.

What has this world come to when one minute you are equally allowed to get married to your partner but the next, others just like you are denied that right? How ludicrous is this? Was the Supreme Court just doing a test drive peoples emotions and play with peoples lives? Where is the logic? I have just about lost my mind. Proposition 8 has been upheld and that leave a lot of us even if we don’t live in California outraged.

Here is what it comes down to people. LISTEN UP AND LISTEN GOOD, most of these right wing extremist religious fanatics that reunite regularly on church days not to twist truths but to also collect a lot of money in order to campaign against same sex marriages. That is why we have to….WE HAVE TO support HRC. This is the time to go in to your pockets and donate because we are not going to back down. EQUALITY IS A RIGHT!!!

First of all I would like to start by saying I have never seen the purpose of beauty pageants, however there are those that participate and view these events. More power to ya! So Miss. California doesn’t agree with gay marriage I personally am not interest in her or her point of views. Quit honestly I would much rather see Adam Lambert with the crown but until that day comes I will not watch it. Com’on when was the last time you heard something sensibly smart come out of a contestant in a beauty pageant. I hate to generalizing because I know how it feels but because she said “NO OFFENSE.” My message for Mrs. soft porn California is, “ That is how I was raised it is my point of view, no offense baby doll but you gotta grow up! What would happen if gay couples could marry? Would you have to explain to your children that there is only one love? “NO OFFENSE? Barbie, you just offended countless, and I mean countless because we are not even recognized in census, of loving and committed couples with and without children. Miss. California we are gay and we are here to stay, no one will change our ways, you should look up to the heavens and count your blessing God forbid you ever have to go through such injustice. That’s like saying back in the days, “I do not believe in interracial marriage that’s how I was brought up sorry no offense to the BLACK people out there. OUTRAGEOUS!!”

But I will move on to bigger and better things like Adam Lambert. I do watch America Idol and I pray and hope to God he wins. He is an incredible singer and performer and seems to have just as big of a heart. Vote for Adam Lambert !!!

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 13, 2009
Florida Court of Appeals Holds that
Florida Must Honor Second-Parent Adoptions by Same-Sex Couples

( San
Francisco , CA , May 13, 2009)—Today, the Florida Court of Appeals unanimously
reversed a lower court ruling and held that Florida must give full faith and
credit to adoptions granted to same-sex couples by other states, holding that
Lara Embry, the plaintiff in the case, “must be given the same rights as any
other adoptive parent in Florida .” The court based its decision on the Full
Faith and Credit Clause of the federal constitution and a Florida statute
requiring Florida to honor adoption decrees from other states. Noting that
“there are no public policy exceptions to the full faith and credit which is due
to judgments entered in another state,” the court concluded that “regardless of
whether the trial court believed that the Washington adoption violated a clearly
established public policy in Florida, it was improper for the trial court to
refuse to give the Washington judgment full faith and credit.” A concurring
opinion further noted that Embry’s “same-sex relationship with [the other
parent] is irrelevant for the purpose of enforcing her rights and obligations as
an adoptive parent.”

The case arose when Lara Embry filed a petition
seeking shared custody of a child she had raised with her former partner,
Kimberly Ryan. The couple had two children together. Each gave birth to one
child, and each adopted her non-biological child through a second-parent
adoption in the state of Washington , where the family lived. The couple moved
to Florida , and their relationship ended several years later. They agreed to
share custody of both children and did so successfully until Ryan unilaterally
decided to separate the children, who are deeply bonded as siblings, and cut off
all contact between Embry and one of the children.

The National Center
for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and Leslie Talbot, of Leslie M. Talbot, P.A.,
represented Lara in her initial suit for shared custody. In February 2008, a
Florida trial court held that Florida would not recognize the couple’s
second-parent adoption. NCLR, Karen Doering, and the law firm of Carlton Fields
represented Lara in the appeal. Former Judge John R. Blue and Cristina Alonso,
attorneys with Carlton Fields briefed and argued the case before the Second
District Court of Appeal on March 18, 2009.

“We are pleased this
decision resolved an important constitutional issue and protected the legal bond
between adoptive parents and their children,” said Blue. “The court affirmed the
longstanding rule that Florida must honor valid adoptions from other states,
which ensures the permanence and stability of parent-child relationships across
state lines.”

Friend-of-the- court briefs supporting Embry and urging
the court to clarify Florida’s obligation to honor second-parent adoptions from
other states were submitted by the Center for Adoption Policy, the Evan B.
Donaldson Adoption Institute, the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy,
the University of Florida Center on Children and Families, the University of
Miami School of Law Children and Youth Clinic, and Professors Mark Brown, Joan
Hollinger, Barbara Bennett Woodhouse, Erwin Chemerinsky, Sharon Rush, and Robert
Schapiro.

The case is Lara Embry v. Kimbery Ryan, No. 2D08-1323, (Fla.
2d DCA May 13, 2009).

In this moment in time where heroes are hard to find, Sean Penn rises like the star that he is. For whatever brief moment, everyone that listened heard the voices of many including me, that have not been heard yet, “WE HAVE TO HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EVERYONE!”

Thank you Sean Penn for not being afraid to speak for others and to stand up for your fellow brother. I can honestly say that your Oscar acceptance brought me tears of joy because it meant to me that there is hope behind all the injustices created against the GBLT community. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I encourage all artist of any level to let their creativity promote equal rights for everyone (LOVE) and to be like Sean Penn, a voice for those not heard.

Have you seen Milk?

WOW…what a film! If you have not gone to watch this movie, I strongly recommend you do! This movie is based on the real life story, it was created using recordings from a man named Harvey Milk, and he narrates his life in the gay community, going from being an everyday normal person, to being one of the most well known gay activists and politics.
Harvey recruited everyone and encouraged gays to come out of the closet “come out come out! Wherever you are…” and encouraged every gay to come out to their families, co-workers, and everywhere! So everyone would at least know someone who was gay. This has to be one of my favorite movies; it’s very inspirational and powerful! After watching this movie, I felt the urge to get out there and be loud, and fight for our rights! If they did it when it was such a hard and controversial time, and many gave their life for the cause, it’s not fair to keep quiet and let all their effort be in vein, today society is more accepting, but still, there is people out there who are in the closet…In my opinion this movie would inspire anyone to come out of the closet and fight for equal rights at any given opportunity!

I would love to hear what everyone else thought of the movie.

In this journey called the human life where we are given a limited amount of time for self-exploration and self-realization sometime unanswered questions are placed in your path.

Things I do not understand….

How can some people limit their love to only a certain type of people, weather it be sex religion, sexual orientation, age, or race?

In what form or perfect person do you believe love should reside? Isn’t love formless?
We know love exists because we can feel it. Are we not expressions of love?

Then I found this beautiful video that summed all my questions in one….

Love is fearless and courageous it withstands all obstacles and transcends time, space, the material world, and the non-material world believes, traditions, and doctrines.

Spread the love. Human right for all! Start to in vision this world in your prayers, meditations, mantras, in your time alone of contemplation until this dream comes true.

This video gave me goose bumps. I love it, I feel it express my feeling correclty. People like me are lost for words. All I want is to have a family that will be protected in the same manner as every one else’s family is in the United States.

We cannot solve a problem from the level of a problem instead we have to step outside of ourselves and see what will bring the greatest happiness to all. This man has managed to see beyond sex and color and seen what the concept is all about…. LOVE! JOIN US AT THE RALLY IN TALLY!

A Rally in Tally for LGBT Rights on Monday, March 16. The rally will mark the start of our second annual Equality Florida Lobby Week. Come join us in Tallahassee for the rally, then stay and talk to legislators about why your family matters.

Yes, Equality Florida has made this great event to build support for bills that will:
• Repeal Florida's shameful ban on gay and lesbian adoption,
• Create domestic partnerships in Florida,
• Provide basic housing and employment protections to LGBT Floridians and
• End hate violence against all members of our community.

This is sad, it looks like it keeps getting worse by the day, we in the GLBT community want to be recognized and be known and acknowledged as any other citizens, but it seems that all is talked out there about us when we make it to “the news” is about hates crime, one after another they keep coming, I think it’s time we change the way we are viewed in this society, as a “target” for hate crimes, and even if this doesnt change soon, instead lets be positive, lets portrait ourselves as strong community who stands up for themselves, a peaceful, hardworking, loving community, but also as a community not to mess with!

I hope to see many people on the streets of Miami Beach on January 10th, wearing our colorful flags, and showing how big and strong our community really is!!!
